SLOVENIA

Picture
Slovenia has only been an independent country since 1991, so they have relatively little World Cup pedigree to speak of. Slovenian players used to represent Yugoslavia prior to the country gaining its independence.

However, Slovenia have appeared at the World Cup finals once before: in 2002 they made the trip to South Korea and Japan and finished bottom of Group B behind Spain, Paraguay and South Africa after losing all three games.

They did at least score two goals, with Sebastjan Cimirotic and Milenko Acimovic netting in the 3-1 defeats to Spain and Paraguay respectively.
